Tour to Polhem Fjeld peak, 1030 m

The highest peak in the fjord panorama across from Tasiilaq can be climbed within one day in summer, with a prior transfer via boat shuttle. Depending on the snow conditions, crampons and axe may be necessary. In one upper section, one exposed point with a rope safeguard must be passed. The sight from the top is beyond words. The whole world of East Greenland seems to lay below. The view spans from the inland ice in the west to hundreds of peaks in the north including Mount Forel, which at a height of 3383 meters is the second highest peak of Greenland after Gunnbjørn Fjeld.

Rock climbing

The mountains directly at the coast are heavily weathered due to frost and humidity and not safe enough for climbing tours. But the granite rocks in the second row are perfect climbing destinations throughout the year. These destinations can reach the highest difficulty levels (up to big wall climbing).

Icebergs

The icebergs on the coast of East Greenland are very distinct in their shapes and colours, because the glaciers from which they originate are very different from each other. Even the range of colours is unique: depending on the density of the ice and the quantity of enclosed air you may see blue, violet, white, green, silver, gold, translucence and, due to enclosed earth and pebbles, even brown and black inclusions.
